Summary:
This position will primarily be responsible for Data Base and Linux/UNIX support during Asian production hours. The position will closely interact with the IT, services and sales teams based in the Singapore office as well as the corresponding teams in the New York and London offices. Data base support involves administration and development of the Fxall Oracle data base farm in all Production and testing environments. Linux support involves administration of the Linux server farm in all environments as well as support for SUN Solaris servers. The candidate must have experience supporting 24/7 real time applications and be part of an on call rotation
Job Responsibilities:
Provide local database support (change requests, database data extraction, data problem analysis)
Setup/monitor/perform Oracle database backup
Database Space monitoring and maintenance
Provide database support for Production, QA & Integration environments during Singapore hours and support for offshore development team(s)
Given the Unix/Linux background, the DBA will be tasked to provide standardization/optimization of database/OS
Database trending and analysis
Linux/Solaris server support and capacity monitoring
Support multi-tier 7x24 FX ecommerce infrastructure.
Education Background:
College degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or in a related field is a plus.
Skills:
The candidate should have 2 to 5 years experience working with Oracle databases and Linux operating systems.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of many of the following items
2-4 Oracle DBA experience on Linux/Unix with production support experience
Strong experience with Oracle 9I and 10G RAC
Ability to proactively design monitoring tools for database environment
Strong UNIX and/or Linux background
Ability to do complex queries & validate expected results in the database
Working Knowledge of Oracle functions, procedure, and triggers using PL/SQL
Good scripting skills in one of the following languages(Perl,Korn,C-shell)
Monitor and plan storage, back-up and recovery activities for database
Experience with disaster recovery setup and execution
Provide technical support during development process
Good communication skills and self-motivator
1st Level Windows Administration skills.
Visio and general documentation skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong TCP/IP troubleshooting and shell scripting is a must
Troubleshooting UNIX OS issues
Veritas Netbackup server administration
Nice to have:
Kickstart/jumpstart hands-on experience.
Working knowledge with NFS, LDAP, Apache administration
Nagios monitoring experience
HP hardware and Sun Hardware troubleshooting
